Abu Dhabi straddles the Tropic of Cancer, therefore experiencing a subtropical type of climate. Temperatures vary from warm in winter to hot in the summer, rainfall is sparse and infrequent and the sky retains a sunny blue disposition throughout the year.
Abu Dhabi weather is at its mildest during the period between the months of December and March, the former experiencing temperature averages of 20.3° C, with a maximum of 27° C and a minimum of 15.2° C, the latter an average 22° C, a maximum of 29° C and a minimum of 16.5° C. Temperatures fall to a much cooler average of 18.4° C during January, the coolest month of the year with a maximum of 24.6° C and a minimum of 13.4° C.
As April rolls in, the thermometer starts to climb, eventually rising to averages around the 26.4° C mark (max. 34.5° C and min. 19.5° C). Continuing their steady ascent they finally reach a peak average of 34.9° C. during August, unquestionably the emirate’s hottest month in Abu Dhabi.
But what goes up must come down, and by September temperatures begin to cool down (average 32.5° C) dropping considerably in November to an average of 24.4° C (max. 31° C and min. 18.5° C).
January is by far the wettest month of the year, enjoying a minimum monthly rainfall of 22mm, followed by the month of March, which registers an average of 17.7mm of rainfall. In sharp contrast, the months of May through October see very little rainfall, if any at all.
